Here's How I Plan to Take Care of Myself This Summer

It's officially summer, yay! For the first half of the year, being stuck at home has forced me to focus my planning on work projects only. I've really missed listening to podcasts and reading on the train during my morning commute to the city. This summer I plan to take advantage of my flex days and schedule time dedicated to my interests. There's no reason not to add these fun activities to my weekly plan.
So what's on the list? Reading
I'm going to sit down and read The Memo: What Women of Color Need to Know to Secure a Seat at the Table by Minda Harts. Minda gave a virtual talk at my company last month and it inspired me to buy her book. One of the lessons I learned from her talk was that you have to be your own self-advocate. The Memo is a guide to help women of color navigate their careers in corporate America. Buy the book here:

What I'm Watching? Hamilton, of course.
Ok, so confession time...I've already watched Hamilton since it's been released on Disney Plus but will probably watch it multiple times this summer. It feels right for the current climate and the opportunities available right now.

Listen to the soundtrack here:
I am not throwing away my shot
Hey yo, I'm just like my country
I'm young, scrappy and hungry
And I'm not throwing away my shot"

What I'm Learning?
Another focus of mine is to take the classes offered on Masterclass. Their collection of industry thought leaders are incredible, and it’s such an affordable way to expand your knowledge in different areas. Only $15/month or you could split the yearly plan with a friend.

Some of the classes I'm looking forward to is:
Robin Roberts Teaches Effective and Authentic Communication
Anna Wintour Teaches Creativity and Leadership
Spike Lee Teaches Independent Filmmaking
Marc Jacobs Teaches Fashion Design
